E-WMS: collecting sales- and production orders when sending to scanner

Introduction

This document describes the principle of 'collecting' sales- or production orders in E-WMS.

Description

It is possible to collect sales orders before sending these to a scanner. The benefit of collecting is, when picking the same item for different orders, this item can be picked in 'one stop' at the same location, instead of visiting the same location repeatedly when the same item is required in several orders.

Item quantities are not collected (summarized) when collecting sales orders, so if the same item code was used in 3 original sales orders, this will still show as 3 seperate picking lines, but now in sequence while you are still at the same location. This is because the link to the original order line has to be maintained.

For sales orders, collection is regulated by two settings in menu System, General, Settings, WMS Sales order fulfilment; "Collect" and "Collective method":

Collect:  when enabled, sales orders which are send picking in one run, are collected
Collective method: collect sales order by 'urgent' state, or by delivery debtor (to be precise: per equal delivery debtor number + address line 1 + address line 2 + postal code + city + country).

For production issues, collecting is always done per 'urgent' status (depending selection code linked in the production order) when enabled.

When 'collect' is activated, all orders which are selected before pressing 'Send to scanner' are collected as one 'virtual' order on the scanner.

Collected orders are presented in the Control Center status 'picking' on single order level.

but on a hand terminal the orders are grouped per collection order, in this case 'urgent' and 'not urgent' orders:

After selecting the order (and order line), the original order number is visible in the picking screen:
